Sakata Guitas soprano ukulele, custom made ukulele bar with 17 frets, Cuban mahogany body
Luthier Hisashi Sakata, who makes high-end acoustic guitars in traditional styles such as Martin and Gibson, based in Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture, has unveiled a lineup of Martin-style soprano ukuleles at the TOKYO Handcrafted Guitar Fest 2023.
The standard model, the US-1, is a soprano model with a Honduras mahogany body based on the famous Martin ukulele Style-1.
The fingerboard and bridge are made of Mr. Sakata's treasured Jacaranda (Brazilian Rosewood).
The top has Tortoise binding and the pegs are GOTOH UPT.
The show model only had 12 frets, but although it has an old-fashioned feel and flavor, the songs that can be played are limited, so this instrument has been specially ordered by our store with 17 frets to improve playability.
In addition, the body material of this instrument has been changed from the usual Honduran mahogany to Cuban mahogany, resulting in an excellent finish in terms of both volume and reverb.
Please see the video for sound.
