Sakata Guitas soprano ukulele, custom made 17 fret ukulele bar with Honduras mahogany body
Luthier Hisashi Sakata, who makes high-end acoustic guitars in traditional styles such as Martin and Gibson, based in Kofu City, Yamanashi Prefecture, has unveiled a lineup of Martin-style soprano ukuleles at the TOKYO Handcrafted Guitar Fest 2023.
The standard model, the US-1, is a soprano model with a Honduras mahogany body based on the famous Martin ukulele Style-1.
The fingerboard and bridge are made of Mr. Sakata's treasured Jacaranda (Brazilian Rosewood).
The top has Tortoise binding and the pegs are GOTOH UPT.
The show model only had 12 frets, but since the songs that can be played are limited, even though it has a rich old-fashioned feel, this instrument has been specially ordered by our shop with 17 frets for better playability. It is a simple and orthodox soprano ukulele, but it has a great finish in both volume and reverb.
