This instrument is a show model tenor ukulele exhibited at the "
Shiwasu-no (December) Ukulele Exhibition 2025."
The top, back, and exterior sides of the body are all made from premium-grade Hawaiian Koa. Each is cut from a single piece of wood with beautifully curly grain, resulting in a striking grain that changes appearance depending on the angle you look at it from. The headplate is also made from Hawaiian Koa, and the neck is made from Honduras mahogany.
The headstock features a slotted design, and the Schaller Grand Tune tuning machines (for classical guitars) are equipped with unique ball bearings in the shafts, allowing for smooth and stable tuning. The tuning machine buttons are crafted from snakewood, and the binding, end graft, and heel cap are also made from the same material, creating a uniform, high-quality appearance.
Ebony is used for the bridge and fingerboard. The shell inlays on the rosette, back center, and headstock are not simply inlays, but are created through an extremely elaborate process in which a shell sheet is laid in a hollowed-out area of the Hawaiian Koa body, rosewood is embedded on top of that, abalone is then added, and finally resin is poured in. Depending on the angle, the shells appear to float and sway on the water's surface, creating a three-dimensional, deep look that conveys the originality and exquisite handwork that is unique to POROPORO.
The double-layered side panels, which increase the rigidity of the side plates, efficiently extract vibrations from the soundboard. This produces a rich, vibrant, and gorgeous sound with a rich overtone content, sparkling and deep sound.
In terms of appearance, structure, and tone, this guitar is perfect and worthy of being a show model.
