A show model soprano ukulele with a pleasant rich sound from Redwood x Granadillo
This is a new soprano ukulele from ki-bo-ukulele, exhibited at the Tokyo Handcraft Guitar Fes.
ki-bo-ukulele are carefully and painstakingly crafted by artisan Seiji Tsuchiya in his workshop in Miyota-machi, Kita-saku-gun, Nagano Prefecture.
The top is made of redwood, the sides and back are granadillo, and the fingerboard and bridge are also granadillo. It's a striking piece with deep-colored wood accented with red decorations.
The rosette and purfling combine mother-of-pearl and red stained wood, resulting in a beautiful finish that appears subtly pink depending on how the light hits it. The line in the center of the fingerboard, where Hawaiian koa is sandwiched between red stained wood, is also stylish.
The sound is rich in overtones, with a pleasant sustain. Despite its soprano size, it has good volume and is a very satisfying ukulele to play.
