The Ki-Bo Ukulele is carefully crafted by maker Kiyoshi Tsuchiya in his workshop in Kitasaku District, Nagano Prefecture. The annual production volume is small, with each ukulele carefully crafted over time. The current lineup consists of only the soprano-sized standard model and the soprano deluxe model (this model).
The rope-pattern binding and rosette on the body add a vintage accent to the design, giving it an appealing look that seems to have transcended time from the 1920s.
However, contrary to its appearance, the intonation and playability are as precise as you would expect from a modern luthier. It's perfect for old-time Hawaiian, jazz, and singing, and of course it's also great for solo ukulele.
This deluxe model features a rope-patterned centerline on the fingerboard and headplate, and the Hawaiian Koa wood has been upgraded from the standard 2A grade to 3A grade, making it a gorgeous model. The deep color and fine curly Hawaiian Koa wood are truly beautiful.
