The K-1T/PG tenor model is part of Kanile'a's standard line, which deliberately omits all decorations to directly pursue the "essence" of the instrument. The most distinctive feature of this model is its luxurious use of top-grade premium Hawaiian koa (PG) solid wood for the entire body. The deep, three-dimensional curly grain, characteristic of the highest grade, spreads across the instrument, and the mirror-like UV gloss finish further enhances its beautiful gradation.
Because of its ultimate simplicity, stripped of all ornamentation such as bindings and rosettes, the inherent resonance of the premium koa is unleashed directly, unobstructed. Furthermore, the scale and deep dynamic range unique to a tenor size combine to create a pleasant balance between the bright, clear shimmer of Hawaiian koa and its deep, rich sustain.
Within its seemingly simple body, Kanile'a's patented TRU-R bracing system is installed. By maintaining body strength while achieving extreme lightness, the entire body resonates without stress the moment the strings are plucked, producing an overwhelmingly clear and three-dimensional modern sound. Additionally, the gently rounded radiused back structure efficiently reflects sound internally, achieving astonishing volume with excellent projection and a pleasant sonic expanse.
The neck is made of solid mahogany, and the fingerboard and bridge are crafted from jet-black ebony, ensuring excellent durability and smooth playability. The headstock logo and fingerboard position markers are adorned with MOP (Mother of Pearl), which emits a beautiful and elegant luster, adding refined sophistication to the simple body. The tuners are GOTOH lightweight geared tuners, custom-made for Kanile'a with their signature black oval buttons as standard. They boast incredibly smooth and precise tuning accuracy, achieving an excellent weight balance that makes the instrument feel light in your hands.
