“Ilikai” Soprano Model: Beautiful, Clear Resonance with Long Sustain, Unique to Flame Maple, Reflecting a Hawaiian Sunset Sky

The "Ilikai" series, meaning "horizon" in Hawaiian. This soprano ukulele features a striking gradient color scheme inspired by the Hawaiian ocean and sunset sky.

The body is crafted from master grade flame maple, finished with a stain color that transitions from deep blue to red.

Teal poplar inlays, reminiscent of the ocean's hues, serve as an accent and are used for the brand logo and position markers.

In terms of sound, the flame maple provides a clear, well-defined, and bright tone. In addition to its light response and long sustain, the Low-G tuning expands its range. The oval side soundport also allows the player to monitor the sound directly.

Kanile’a’s unique “TRU (Total Resonating Ukulele) Bracing” is employed. By minimizing the adhesive surface between the bracing and the soundboard, the top wood's vibration is more naturally enhanced, achieving rich volume and responsive sound.

Every detail is meticulously finished, including an ebony fingerboard and bridge, original GOTOH pegs, and a UV gloss finish.

Kanile'a

Kanileʻa ʻUkulele（カニレア・ウクレレ） は、1998年にハワイ・オアフ島でジョー・ソウザ氏とクリステン・ソウザ氏によって設立されたブランドである。

ジョー氏は、家族や仲間と歌い奏でる“カニカピラ”文化の中で育ち、名工ピーター “Uncle Pete” バミューデス氏のもとで製作技術を学ぶ。その後自宅ガレージで工房をスタートし、現在ではハワイを代表するウクレレブランドへと成長した。

伝統を大切にしながらも革新的な設計を積極的に取り入れており、独自の「TRUブレーシング」や快適性を高める各種構造など、演奏性と響きを追求した独創的な楽器作りで知られている。また、製作した楽器1本につき1本のコアの木を植樹する活動も行っており、ハワイの自然と文化を次世代へ繋ぐ取り組みを続けている。
