K.Yairi (Yairi Guitar) is a brand that Kani City, Gifu Prefecture, boasts to the world. Committed to thorough quality control and handcrafting by artisans, it is a leading Japanese manufacturer that has earned immense trust from top musicians both domestically and internationally.
This instrument is a rare custom model (made in 2021) that adopts unique specifications, setting it apart from the regular lineup. Its most significant feature is its body size. While typically based on a concert long-neck model, this instrument has a customized tenor-sized body. With a 432mm scale, 14-fret joint, and 18-fret specification, it is crafted as a complete tenor ukulele that achieves both playability and resonance.
The sunburst-colored body top uses spruce, while the sides and back use mahogany. It features a mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard and bridge, and Gotoh UPT tuners for excellent stability. The matte satin finish gives it a refined look befitting a custom model.
A strap pin is installed on the neck heel, and an L.R. Baggs Five.O pickup is attached, making it an attractive practical setup that can be immediately used for live performances and recordings.
In terms of sound, each note is exceptionally clear and well-defined, characterized by a light and clear resonance. The brilliant high frequencies derived from spruce harmoniously blend with the soft mid-low tones typical of a ukulele, making it ideal for solo style as well as crisp strumming for vocal accompaniment.
