ASTURIAS, with its factory in Kurume, Fukuoka Prefecture, is one of Japan's leading string instrument manufacturers, producing acoustic guitars, classical guitars, and classical mandolins.
Although the company does not produce a large amount of ukuleles, it utilizes the skills it has cultivated in making those instruments to produce high-quality products.
The "Solo Ukulele" is an original series that represents Asturias, created as a ukulele specifically for solo play, rather than the existing body sizes such as "Soprano" or "Concert".
As the name "solo ukulele" suggests, this ukulele is not designed for singing and playing the guitar, but rather for playing solo songs. It has a unique design, with a body that is slightly thicker than a soprano and a Florentine cutaway specification that allows for playability in higher positions.
The bracing inside the body was carefully determined using the wisdom gained from guitar making, with careful consideration given to the height, width, shape, and placement, and the neck scale was set to a length that is comfortable for solo playing.
This domestically produced ukulele is made in very limited numbers by skilled guitar craftsmen using high-quality materials, and is also attractive for its excellent cost performance.
This model uses rare Hawaiian Koa for the body and features a bright, crisp, solid sound that is characteristic of Koa, making it a representative model in the Solo Ukulele series.
